Pottery Painting Inspiration

Working in a pottery Cafe means we get the privilege of seeing 100's of incredible designs.

A couple of designs stick out in the best possible way.

How incredible? Plates, mugs and bowls are amazing and allow the painters imagination go wild however I truly belive there is nothing more "pottery painting" than choosing the custest figurine and bringing them to life.

This little guy is part of our childrens £14 collection. He is a sea turtle and one of our most popular figurines.

This desigin in particular has been created using our ocean blues and deep yellows. Our chosen underglazes are adventagous, the painter can layer paints on top of one another making it easier to add details. This particular painter would have likely painted the shell all blue adding purple squares afterwards. Other examples of using this layering to your advantage are seen below.

This bowl (£24 large pasta bowl) would have been painted a light pink beforehand (number 18) with cherries being painted after.

Even the white dots you can see would have been added after the initial coat. The Sophie's Ceramics team always advise three coats especially when layering to make sure the bottom layer doesnt push through to your alternative colour choice.

Below we have put forward a myriad of amazing examples of layering.

If you are heading to a Sophie's Ceramics all pieces and prices are detailed below.
